The novel Pulang is the story of two generations—Dimas Suryo and his daughter, Lintang Utara—who live together in Paris, France. Like thousands of other Indonesians trapped in various countries with stateless status, Dimas Suryo's family was never able to return to Indonesia because their passports were revoked and their lives were threatened. In 1998, North Latitude finally managed to touch the country. He came to them the experience of the families of the victims of the 1965 Tragedy as his final college project. What Lintang reveals is not only his father's past, but also how the bloodiest history in Indonesia is related to Dimas Suryo and his friends. Pulang is the first novel in the 1965 trilogy, which tells the story of a family drama, friendship, love, and betrayal set against the backdrop of three historical events: Indonesia September 30, 1965, France May 1968, and Indonesia May 1998.
