Batak History Book (Original) Author Batara Sangti Simanjuntak (Ompu Buntilan) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Until the end of the 15th century, the history and culture of the Batak tribe in North Sumatra was almost unknown to outsiders, especially foreigners such as immigrants from China, Arabia, India, Portugal, Britain, the Netherlands and others. Until the end of the 17th century, these foreigners generally only knew about a few kingdoms and tribes that lived on the coast of North Sumatra, such as the kingdoms of Lamuri, Singkel, Fansur, Barus, Pasai/Samudera Pasai, Nagur, Tamiang, Haru, Siak and others. After the war between the Aceh sultanate and the Kingdom of Haru and the Batak Timur Raja, which was assisted by the Malacca (Malays) and the Portuguese in 1539, foreigners, especially Europeans, gradually began to learn about the "Batak" tribe in the interior of North Sumatra. The Aru/Hara Kingdom, before converting to Islam, was a Batak kingdom, under the dynasty of "Tuan Sori Mangaraja" (Tuan Soripa Dijulu Soripada Dijae) of the Hinayana Hindu sect. It is estimated that the year 511 was the revival of the dynasty "Tuan Singa Mangaraja which was centered in Bakkara, this dynasty lasted until Tuan Raja Sisinga Mangaraja XII, who died in the war against the Dutch in 1907.
