Born as a small monovolume, class A has fully evolved into this third generation, which was presented in 2012. The goal is to compete with the Audi A3 and BMW 1-Series. But unlike these cars, Mercedes comes with a limited bodywork range of only 5 doors. In 2013, the CLA appeared, a 4-door coupe that quickly joined Shooting Break, something truly unprecedented in Audi and BMW's competitive production. Mechanically, the third-generation A-Class marked a renewal point as the base version adopted Renault 1.2TCe and 1.5 dCi engines, something that shocked purists.
